Description including Unit Aims

This unit will begin with a description of the history and development of International, European and UK Environmental policy and regulation. This will enable students to examine how policy and regulation has informed economically and environmentally sustainable practices within individual organisations. It will also highlight issues of sustainabilty and how policy and regulation can contribute to achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.

The unit includes an outline of: international environmental policy and the institutions which make it; the evolution of UK and EU policy and environmental, water and planning law; the development of environmental policy for an organisation; environmental impact assessment, Environmental Management Systems and Life Cycle Analysis.

This unit will be taught by leading practitioners in the area of environmental policy.
