Mandatory for Joint Honours students in Psychology and Zoology who are NOT taking PSYC31015. The main body of the project is not to exceed 6,000 words including abstract, references (cited within the text), tables, and figure legends (excluding the reference list and appendices). The project is to be based on empirical investigations carried out by the student (generally in pairs) for 12 weeks during weeks 1-16. Students are expected to maintain contact with their supervisors during the project at least once a week: face-to-face, email, or phone, with a formal meeting before the end of week 10. Students give 10 minute oral presentations, with 5 minute question and answer sessions.
The project is an opportunity for you to put into practice the research skills that you have developed over the first 2 years of the programme. Working with the guidance of a supervisor, you will learn how to behave responsibly and safely in a scientific laboratory, implement innovative methods to solve problems, and design, develop, run, analyse and write up a piece of original research.
Independent work with supervisor.
Oral presentation on the project at the end of the Spring Term (25%).
Submission of a project report of no more than 6,000 (75%)
