Description

This unit is part of a programme which aims to:

  • provide a higher degree in orthodontics for dental graduates;
  • prepare students for the Membership in Orthodontics (MOrth) at one of the Royal Colleges of Surgeons.

Intended learning outcomes

Conduct a research project in a focussed area of relevance to orthodontic practice. This will comprise a comprehensive literature review, an experimental study (clinical or laboratory based) and completion of a final supervised research dissertation.

  • Independent research and review of current literature in specialised field
  • Research with close supervision

Assessment Details

Summative Assessment:

DDS final examination - Submission and defence of research dissertation - Year 3, Term 3 (must pass)

Formative Assessment:

Year 1 - 1 Research presentation - Term 3

Year 2 - 1 Research presentation - Term 3
