The idea is simple - we hire out a local farmer's field and let BUMC members thrash their cars around courses set out by cones. Autotests are always fantastic events and on what other occasion would you get the opportunity to bomb your car (or that of a good friend) around a field for only £10?

We normally run autotests on a Sunday so that you can go out on Friday and get as hammered as you like without having to worry about being able to drive the next day. Starting with a complementary BBQ at around lunch time gives you loads of time to wake up before the fun commences.

Competitors take it in turns to attempt to drive around a course set out by cones, consisting of slaloms, handbrake turns, J-turns, garages to stop in, and normally a bit of interesting reversing. If you hit a cone, 5 seconds will be added to your time for that stage. In an afternoons autotesting we normally have time for 6 stages before the light goes. At the end of the day, the times for each stage are added up and the winner is the person with the lowest time.
