Hello!

We are a society of church bell ringers made up of students from the University of Bristol and the University of West England. Whether you have never touched a bell rope or you've been ringing for years, we welcome students of all abilities.

We practice on a Tuesday night from 7:30pm to 9:00pm at St. Matthew's Kingsdown which is usually followed by a trip to one of several local pubs for a drink and chat.

We have many socials throughout the year inclucing a Fresher's Bar Crawl, Christmas dinner, Pudding Party and Summer BBQ to name a few! In November we take part in the the SUA (Southern Universities Association) - a weekend away of ringing and socialising with other university ringers. There is also a big Formal Dinner in January to which all past and present members are invited.

If you're interested in joining, drop us an email - we look forward to having you along!

Pandemic Antics

Thankfully we are pretty much back to normal with regular practices and socials. However, for the past year and a bit the Pandemic put pay to our normal activities and chaos. That didn't stop us though!

Lockdown Antics

Throughout the various lockdowns we had weekly zoom meetings where we caught up and played games such as poker, pictionary and Eggs. There were also several social events including a quiz, talent show, and BBQ.
One event involved a pumpkin carving contest, and, following a vote, Will was determined the winner with his carved pepper! The fruits of our handiwork can be seen in all their glory below.

Pumpkins

To keep active during lockdown 2.0, we set ourselves the challenge of collectively running, walking and cycling 1260 miles (a quarter peal). 19 members of both the resident and wider society got involved and we recorded our progress on strava. In the end we smashed our target and reached a whopping distance of 1443 miles. If you're bored enough and want to have a look at the full results they can be found here.
