Dr Wael Kafienah in the Department of Cellular and Molecular Medicine has been awarded the prestigious Garrod Prize 2008 for his research on stem cells and cartilage repair.

Dr Wael Kafienah, Lecturer in Stem Cell Biology in the Department of Cellular and Molecular Medicine, has been awarded the prestigious Garrod Prize 2008 for his research on stem cells and cartilage repair.

The Garrod Prize is awarded annually by the British Society for Rheumatology (BSR) to a scientist with a non-clinical background who has demonstrated distinguished contribution to the field of Rheumatology. The Prize consists of £1,000, a invitation to  give a presentation of the work during the BSR Annual Meeting and an editorial by the winner to be published in the BSR journal, Rheumatology.
