Bristol University has awarded honorary degrees to two prominent people at today’s degree ceremonies in the Wills Memorial Building [Friday 11 July].

Bristol University has awarded honorary degrees to two prominent people at today’s degree ceremonies in the Wills Memorial Building [Friday 11 July].

Mr Peter Clarke, CVO, OBE, QPM, formerly Deputy Assistant Commissioner, Metropolitan Police, and a Bristol graduate, has been honoured with the degree of Doctor of Laws at the 11.15 am ceremony.

Mr Jonathan Evans, Director General of the Security Service, and a Bristol graduate, has been honoured with the degree of Doctor of Laws at the 2.30 pm ceremony.

An honorary degree is a major accolade, awarded in recognition of outstanding achievement and distinction in a field or activity consonant with the University’s mission.
