Major BBSRC training grants for Medical and Veterinary postgrads

The Faculty of Medical and Veterinary Sciences has been awarded a total of £1.52 million in Doctoral Training Grants by the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council.

The Faculty of Medical and Veterinary Sciences has been awarded a total of £1.52 million in Doctoral Training Grants (DTGs) by the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC).

A DTG provides funding for postgraduate research training. These awards will enable 20 students in all to be allocated four-year PhD studentships, for take-up in 2009, 2010 and 2011.

The Faculty made three bids, all of which were successful. The breakdown of studentships is as follows:

  • Department of Anatomy/Department of Physiology and Pharmacology 7
  • Biochemistry 8
  • Clinical Veterinary Sciences 5
