Double launch for Simon Bolivar writings

Dr Matthew Brown, Senior Lecturer in Latin American Studies, is the editor of a new edition of the writings of South American political leader Simón Bolívar.

Dr Matthew Brown, Senior Lecturer in Latin American Studies in the Department of Hispanic, Portuguese and Latin American Studies, is the editor of a new edition of the writings of Simón Bolívar (1783-1830), the South American political leader who was instrumental in Latin America’s move towards independence from Spain.

Simon Bolivar: The Bolivarian Revolution, with an introduction by Hugo Chávez, current President of Venezuela, is published by Verso. Its Bristol launch takes place on 21 October at 1pm in LR8, 21 Woodland Road, where Dr Brown will be in conversation with Dr Thomas Muhr from the Graduate School of Education (an expert on the contemporary Bolivarian Revolution in Venezuela).

A second launch takes place in London that evening (7.30pm) in the Bolívar Hall, Grafton Street, when Dr Brown will hold a discussion with the writer and activist Tariq Ali and the Venezuelan Ambassador to the UK, His Excellency Samuel Moncada.
