Professor Tim Gallagher becomes new Dean of Science
14 March 2013
Tim Gallagher, Professor of Organic Chemistry at the University of Bristol, has been chosen to succeed Professor Jon Keating as Dean of the Faculty of Science from 1 August 2013.
Professor Gallagher’s research interests lie broadly within heterocyclic and carbohydrate chemistry and span a range of topics. These include the development of synthetic methodology, study of reaction mechanism, and the application of synthesis to molecules of biological interest, such as molecules that mimic nicotine and those associated with biologically important interactions.
Professor Gallagher, who is originally from New Zealand, received his BSc from University College Cardiff and his PhD from the University of Liverpool, and returned to the UK after postdoctoral research in the USA.
