A public launch of the new Elizabeth Blackwell Institute for Health Research will take place on 22 July 2013 from 6 to 8 pm (doors open at 5:30 pm for prompt 6 pm start) in the Great Hall, Wills Memorial Building, University of Bristol, Queen's Road, Bristol BS8 1RJ.

A public launch of the new Elizabeth Blackwell Institute for Health Research will take place on 22 July 2013 from 6 to 8 pm  (doors open at 5:30 pm for prompt 6 pm start) in the Great Hall, Wills Memorial Building, University of Bristol, Queen's Road, Bristol BS8 1RJ.

The Elizabeth Blackwell Institute is tasked with bringing together researchers from disparate disciplines to work on innovative ways to deliver better health for all. The Institute is named after Elizabeth Blackwell who was born in Bristol in 1821, became the first woman to receive a medical degree in the USA, and was the first woman to be entered into the UK's medical register. 

The official launch will highlight Elizabeth Blackwell’s life and her pioneering work in public health in the UK, will include a panel discussion focusing on the use of cutting-edge engineering technologies in health monitoring, and will be followed by a reception.
