A new paper by CSR researchers and others has found that bilateral, or symmetrising, mastectomy can lead to high levels of satisfaction and similar complication rates to unilateral mastectomy for breast cancer.
They say that further study is needed to explore outcomes, but surgeons can confidently offer the procedure as an alternative option.
