Towards Evidence Based Diagnosis

The overall aim of this project is to undertake work in the area of diagnosis that will lead to practical improvements in the diagnostic process. To achieve this aim, we have identified four key themes on which to focus:

• Diagnostic process
• Systematic reviews methodology
• Communication diagnostic information
• Primary diagnostic accuracy study methodology

The Evidence Based Diagnosis Programme is funded by the Medical Research Council and is based in the School of Social Medicine at the University of Bristol, with collaborators throughout the UK. The programme is led by Professor Jonathan Sterne.
