You are invited to an online seminar addressing the care and support needs of unpaid carers, hosted by the Centre for Research in Health and Social Care, School for Policy Studies. The COVID-19 pandemic has placed unprecedented demands on individuals caring for significant others such as partners, spouses, family members and friends. Join us for two presentations about the latest social care research into the needs of adult carers and how support can be enhanced for those caring for others:

Presentation 1: Online information and advice to carers during the Covid-19 pandemic: findings from an English study*

Presenters: Professor Liz Lloyd and Dr Agnes Bezzina, School for Policy Studies, University of Bristol.

Professor Liz Lloyd has retired from employment and holds honorary posts as a Senior Research Fellow in the School for Policy Studies at the University of Bristol, a Senior Fellow of the NIHR School of Social Care Research and a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences. Throughout her career, her research and teaching focused on policies and practices related to ageing, social work, care and health. Liz is currently writing a book on the history of policies to support carers in the UK.

Presentation 2: Supporting older carers and the people they care for: the dyadic impact of social care (DYADS)*

Presenters: Dr Stacey Rand and Dr Wenjing Zhang. 

Dr Stacey Rand is a senior research fellow at the Personal Social Services Research Unit, University of Kent. Her research interests focus on carers, social care and the quality of life outcomes of care.

Dr Wenjing Zhang is a researcher at the Centre for Health Services Studies, University of Kent. Her research experience and interests focus on ageing, social care, migration and international and comparative social policy. She is working on the literature review and interviews of the DYADS project led by Stacey.
