Research

We have a vibrant and innovative research culture based around an integrative research theme of Culture, Learning, Identity and Organisations (CLIO).

There is an extensive portfolio of funded research projects, internationally recognised researchers and a flow of national and international visitors.

The atmosphere is exciting, diverse, creative and welcoming, with regular research events, seminars and research development days for both staff and research students.

Research centres

All academic staff and research students belong to one of eight research centres which mentor and support research activity and arrange their own seminars and programmes of events.

As a world class centre of excellence we continue to build on our strengths and develop inter-disciplinary research which will be crucial to the success of teaching and learning in the twenty-first century.

The research culture is supported and developed by our research strategy which emphasises the importance of developing collaborative work, improving the links between teaching and research and increasing the impact of our research on audiences at local, regional, national and international level.

The responsibility for developing and implementing this strategy lies primarily with our Director of Research.
