Personal profile

I recently completed my PhD in Economics from the University of Bristol, UK. Earlier I did my MSc in Economics & Econometrics from the University of Bristol and BSc (Hons) in Economics from the University of Bath. I have also worked as a PhD Intern at the Bank of England; Economic Consultant at the Planning Commission, Government of Pakistan; and, Assistant Economist at the Cambridge Econometrics, UK.

Research

My PhD research focuses on understanding how intermediate materials prices and energy price uncertainty affects inflation dynamics in New Keynesian DSGE models. Specifically, together with Engin Kara, I extend the standard New Keynesian model to allow of endeogenous production of intermediate materials. We show that the estimation results from the new model are closer to the micro-data on prices. Furthermore, the new model also provides possible explanation for important macroeconomic policy questions. The two questions which my PhD research focused on are the 'missing deflation puzzle' and 'decreasing energy price pass-through to core inflation.'
