The first Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship Scheme (MSCA-PF) call under Horizon Europe is expected to open on 18th May 2021 with a deadline of 15th September 2021.

The Research Development International team will run as a pilot, an intensive bid support event, on July 8th 2021 for potential fellows and their host supervisors planning to apply to the 2021 call.

Event Outline

  • Overview of the MSCA-PF scheme, tailored guidance for University of Bristol supervisors and potential fellows
  • Talks from and Q&A with a successful European Fellow and a Global Fellow, as well as a successful MSCA-PF supervisor
  • Proposal writing surgery
  • Individual surgery sessions facilitated by the RDI team with each applicant and supervisor

Next steps

  • We encourage potential host supervisors to begin reaching out to their international networks to identify high quality candidates they wish to host at the University of Bristol through the September 2021 MSCA-PF call
  • Hold July 8th in your diaries to participate in the event as a host supervisor with the potential fellow (particularly encouraged for supervisors who are new to the scheme)
  • Let the RDI team know the details of the applicant (potential fellow) by June 30th at the latest so we can liaise with the applicant and supervisor ahead of the event by emailing us on eu-research@bristol.ac.uk

In the meantime please get in touch if you have any questions on the MSCA-PF scheme.

Further details on the MSCA-PF scheme can be found below and on our SharePoint site.

Scope

The Marie Sklodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowships (MSCA-PF) are prestigious fellowships funded by the European Commission. The goal of the MSCA-PF scheme is to enhance the career of researchers holding a PhD wishing to acquire new skills, through advanced training, international, interdisciplinary and inter-sectoral mobility. MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships are open to excellent researchers of any nationality, including researchers wishing to reintegrate in Europe, researchers who are displaced by conflict as well as researchers with high potential aiming for a career restart in research. The scheme is open to all domains of research and also encourages researchers to explore research and innovation projects in the non-academic sector.

Eligibility criteria

Applicants must have a PhD and at the call deadline must have a maximum of 8 years full-time equivalent research experience, measured from the PhD award date.

Years of experience outside of research and career breaks (e.g. due to parental leave), will not count towards the 8 years maximum experience in research.

In order to comply with the mobility rule, applicants who wish to be hosted by the University of Bristol, must not have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc.) in the UK (for European Postdoctoral Fellowships), for more than 12 months in the 36 months immediately before the call deadline. For Global Postdoctoral Fellowships, this rule applies to the host organisation that will host the fellow during the outgoing phase of the fellowship.
