Professor Achilles Skordas to give a talk at the Annual Plenary Meeting of the European Asylum Support Office (EASO) Consultative Forum

Professor Achilles Skordas was invited by the European Asylum Support Office (EASO) to give a talk at the Annual Plenary Meeting of the Consultative Forum in Brussels (11-12 December).  EASO is a body of the European Union, established by Regulation No 439/2010 of the European Parliament and the Council, and its purpose is to provide assistance to the Member States on the implementation of the Common European Asylum System (CEAS).  The Forum is an ongoing process that allows for the exchange of information and pooling of knowledge between EASO and the civil society.

This year, the Plenary Meeting will discuss the planning and preparedness of the European Union and the Member States in view of the Ukrainian crisis, as well as the response to the influx of refugees from Eritrea, Syria, and Afghanistan. Achilles will speak on the situation in Afghanistan, and on the development of a common approach to the interpretation of Art. 15 of the EU Qualification Directive on the scope of subsidiary protection, including the development of guidance and tools on Art. 15c of the same.
