Buddhism is often associated with philosophy, meditation and monks. In practice many Buddhists in South and Southeast Asia have neither the time nor the inclination to engage in philosophical speculations or formal meditation. Equally, Buddhists are as (or even more) likely to consult other religious specialists as they are to engage with monks. Buddhists in Sri Lanka have a whole cosmos of visible and invisible beings to deal with and most of their interactions are negotiated with food. Offerings of food are made to various kinds of being and vary greatly in aim, character and scale. But they have one thing in common: they are performed by Buddhists in a Buddhist cosmological framework. This series of short documentaries looks at the world through the eyes of the food makers.

This event is part of InsideArts festival 2015.
