Lecture and discussion: Snapshots: Does every picture tell a story?

18 November 2015, 6.00 PM - 18 November 2015, 7.30 PM

Tim Cole

Room 4.10, Graduate School of Education, 35 Berkeley Square

This event thinks about the historical value of family photographs and amateur photography. In the first half, four historians briefly discuss a single photograph, sequence of images or album and the stories that these snapshots might tell. In the second half, there will be a chance for the audience to talk about the photographs they have brought with them. How might a future historian read these? Do you agree with that interpretation? What do historians do with photographs - and can they go too far?

Please bring a snapshot with you - either historical or present.

This event is part of InsideArts festival 2015.
