Laity Gallery

The practices of the laity are important within death rituals. The family of the deceased will arrange and pay for the funeral, cremation (or burial) and the services of the monks. As well as this they can generate merit for the deceased which will provide the deceased with a better chance for a desirable rebirth. The laity can arrange for rituals such as the mataka-vastra-puja to take place, they can donate gifts to the Sangha and they can even participate in annual festivals that are dedicated to helping the dead.

These images, and many more, depicting the Buddhist laity can be downloaded for free.
